Bio

Grew up in first the Deep South then the Suburban North of Johannesburg. Matriculated in the last year of the ‘old South Africa’, then spent a year in UK and Europe learning the art of survival and how to stay out of trouble (not always successful) before returning to SA to complete a diploma in Fine Art(drawing, painting, sculpture, conceptual) and a degree in the Performing Arts (writing, acting, directing). The awards I won at drama college (AFDA) gave me enough confidence to launch myself into television, my first job being a writing and acting gig on the eTV cult sitcom “Big Okes”. After I fell out with the producer, and the show fell out of favour with the broadcaster, I moved on to roles in films, TV commercials and some lecturing in scriptwriting. This lasted a year before a phone call from an old school friend resulted in me taking up a promo director job at Rapid Blue Productions, working primarily on the SuperSport account. Two years after that, I joined the same friend again, in his then fledgling agency/production company CSquared Productions, as senior director and partner. We have just celebrated the company’s tenth anniversary and we’re still as hungry for great creative as ever. In this time I have also written and produced 3 plays (all comedy) performed in a few films and TV series, appeared in over 20 commercials and are currently writing a screenplay. I have also started a website of self-produced comedy content with a fellow writer/director, which enjoys a healthy and growing fan base.

Maybe it’s because I’m a writer, but I see my life as an ever-evolving script, with twists and turns, revelations and re-incorporations…one absorbing scene after another. I love where it’s been, I’m excited for where it’ll take me next. I’m sure at the end, it’ll all make perfect and beautiful sense. In the meantime, dim the lights, get comfy, and watch this space.
